Best known for writing offbeat films like Margarita With A Straw (2014) and Waiting (2015), Atika Chohan is a screenwriter for Bollywood films. A journalist before she made her foray into the film industry, Atika writes stories on subjects she feels strongly about, often focusing on sociopolitical issues. In an interview, she admitted to quitting journalism so she could help throw light on these issues through her writing.

In 2009 she completed a screenwriting course at Film and Television Institute of India and then moved to Mumbai. A year later she worked on the 26 episode TV show Rishta.com, which can now be found on Netflix. Soon after her script for Margarita With A Straw was picked up. Atika`s 2020 releases include Chhapaak, the story of which she co-wrote with the director Meghna Gulzar.
