Best known for his breakout role as Advocate Ajatshatru in the popular Sony TV psychological thriller series Yudh (2014), Avinash Tiwary has appeared in a handful of Bollywood movies since his debut in Suno Na, Ek Nanhi Awaaz (2009). Notable among these is the comedy-drama Tu Hai Mera Sunday (2016), which followed five friends who set out on a search for a new haunt after their beach soccer tradition is cancelled. The film, which opened to much critical acclaim, had the actor essaying a central role alongside Barun Sobti, Shahana Goswami, Nakul Bhalla and Vishal Malhotra.

In 2018, Avinash appeared in the romantic drama Laila Majnu, where he was paired opposite Tripti Dimri in one of the titular roles.
