In a career spanning over two decades, Canadian actor Barry Pepper has appeared in around thirty films and numerous television shows, and is perhaps best known for roles such as Lucky Ned Pepper in True Grit (2010) and Private Daniel Jackson in Saving Private Ryan (1998). Pepper started out on television, appearing in shows like Neon Rider and Highlander before making in feature film debut in the 1996 Swiss comedy Urban Safari. Subsequently, he appeared in supporting roles in the acclaimed Tom Hanks movies Saving Private Ryan (1998) and Green Mile (1999), before landing his maiden Golden Globes and Primetime Emmy nominations for his performance in the sports drama television film 61* (2001).
For his portrayal of Robert F. Kennedy in the Canadian-American miniseries The Kennedys, Pepper won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries in 2011.
