About
Cinematographer-turned-filmmaker and producer Barry Sonnenfeld is best familiar to the global audience for directing the first three installments of the Men in Black film series (1997-). He began his career as a DOP, collaborating primarily with the Coen Brothers early on. The neo-noir crime film Blood Simple (1984), the crime comedy Raising Arizona (1987), the fantasy comedy Big (1988) and the romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally (1989) are some of his notable movie credits as a cinematographer.

Since his directorial debut with the supernatural black comedy The Addams Family (1991), Sonnenfeld has helmed around a dozen movies. Of these, the Men in Black trilogy starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones has grossed over $1.5 billion at the box office. Other significant directorial credits include Addams Family Values (1993), the steampunk western action comedy Wild Wild West (1999) and Big Trouble (2002).

The black comedy thriller The Ladykillers (2004), the gothic dark comedy A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004) and the sci-fi action comedy Men in Black: International are some of Sonnenfeld`s notable production credits.
