About
After working at a variety of jobs in the camera department (of several movies and commercials) from focus pulling to clapper loading, British cinematographer Ben Davis made his feature film debut as an independent cameraman with the comedy Miranda (2002). He is perhaps best known for his association with filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, having worked with the latter in films like Layer Cake (2004), Stardust (2007) and Kick-Ass (2010).
Davis has also helmed the camera department in a number of films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, notably Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and Doctor Strange (2016). Other significant film credits include the comedy-drama The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011), the black comedy Seven Psychopaths (2012) and the acclaimed drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017). For his work in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Davis was nominated for the BAFTA and British Independent Film Awards for Best Cinematography. His 2019 releases include Captain Marvel and Dumbo.
