About
An award-winning American director, screenwriter, and producer, Ben Younger is best known for his directorial venture Boiler Room, which released in 2000. The crime drama film, which features Giovanni Ribisi, Vin Diesel and Ben Affleck in pivotal roles also marked his debut as a writer. While younger was studying political science at the New York City University, he started doing comedy. This is was his first tryst with entertainment. However, after completing his studies, Younger aspired to pursue a career in politics and he worked as a policy analyst for the New York City comptroller's office. He later successfully managed the State Assemble Campaign for Queens Democrat, Melinda Katz and established himself as the city's youngest campaign manager.
Although he enjoyed great success in the field of politics, by 1995, Younger got disinterested in politics and he was seeking a creative outlet to rekindle the excitement he felt during his stand-up days. Consequently, he wrote and directed a short film titled L & M and also directed several music videos and commercials.
In 1995, while Younger went to attend an interview for a job in a brokerage firm, he got the idea for his first film, Boiler Room and spent two years to research about the underground telemarketing brokerage industry to underpin his screenplay. The film did fairly well at the box office and he later directed films like Prime (2005), and Bleed for This (2017), a biographical sports drama starring Miles Teller, Aaron Eckhart, Katey Sagal and Ted Levine.
