Born to Eldy, an activist of the Quechua ethnic group, and Peter Bratt, Benjamin George Bratt is an American actor popularly known for his role as NYPD Detective Rey Curtis on the TV series Law & Order. Bratt who is often cast as a Hispanic character began his career in 1987: appearing in the TV movie Juarez. He subsequently starred in several TV movies, however, he shot to fame with his role as Detective Rey Curtis in Law and Order (1995 - '99). Bratt was nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at the Primetime Emmy Awards in 1999. From 2011 to 2013, he essayed the character of Dr. Jake Reilly on the TV show Private Practice.
Few of Bratt's notable movie credits include Blood In Blood Out (1993), Miss Congeniality (2000), Traffic (2000), The Infiltrator (2016), and Doctor Strange (2016). In 2017, he voiced the character of Ernesto de la Cruz in the film Coco.
