Bhaskar Thakur son of Late Santosh Thakur, had started his career of singing at a very early stage of his life and had performed in various stage shows within Kolkata and outside of Kolkata. Since childhood, Bhaskar was in close touch with maestros like Subinoy Roy, Shantidev Ghose, Kanika Bandyopadhyay, Suchitra Mitra, Maya Sen, Sumitra Sen, Bani Thakur and others. Bhaskar took lessons of Rabindra sangeet from his father at Gandharvi and later after his fathers demise from Mrs Krishna Guhathakurata and presently from Sri. Subrata Sengupta.
With his father, he performed Rabindra sangeet in All India Radio and Doordarshan. His songs are also being regularly shown on TV Channels like Akash Bangla, NE Bangla, Tara Muzic, Banga TV, MX5 and Kolkata Metro Railway Incoda TV. In the year 2007 solo Rabindra sangeet Album Chokher Aloy was launched from Ananya Music The music arrangement of the album was done by Sri Swapan Chattopadhyay and Preface was scored by Sri Pradip Ghosh. The album attracted the attention of the listeners.
He went to Mymensingh and Dhaka in December 2006 to participate as a singer on the 5th Seva Utsab. He is the Recipient of Seva Smarak Samman being awarded on the occasion. His performances were largely appreciated by the crowd. He recorded Nobo Anonde Jago especially on request of Incoda TV of Kolkata Metro Railway to greet the Metro Commuters early in the morning during Rabindra Jayanti, 2009.
