Billy Williams (Billy), born on June 3, 1929, in Walthamstow, London, England, is a British cinematographer. He became his father's assistant at the age of 14 and they made training films, industrial films and program fillers for the cinema. He served in the Royal Air Force as a photographer post which he got a job British Transport Films for 5 years. Billy started shooting commercials before making his feature film debut. Some of his commercials include Who's Who, Leo - The Automatic Office, Rivers of Time, European Tapestry, etc. In 1965, Billy made his debut feature offering with San Ferry Ann. He worked for many films like Billion Dollar Brain, Women in Love, Gandhi, On Golden Pond, etc. Billy has made a cameo in the films The Wind and the Lion and Suspect. He has received awards like Academy Award for Best Cinematography, American Society of Cinematographers International Award and his work is also discussed in the book 'Cinematography' by Peter Ettedgui.
