Bindiya Goswami, a former actress in Bollywood made her mark in the industry in the late 1970s to the early 1980s. Discovered at a party when she was just 14-years-old, due to her resemblance to 'Dream Girl' Hema Malini, she made her debut with Jeevan Jyoti (1976). Despite acting in multiple films after her debut, Bindiya was propelled to success only in 1979 with Gol Maal earning a lead role opposite Shashi Kapoor in Shaan (1980). Soon after in 1985, she gave up acting to marry director J.P Dutta and turned into a costume designer for the leading ladies of his films like Border (1997), Refugee (2000), LOC Kargil (2003) and Umrao Jaan (2007). Her other notable works include Bandish (1980), Sannata (1981), Khud-Daar (1982), Chor Police (1983), and Mera Yaar Mera Dushman (1987) among many others.
