Known by her stage name Birdy, Jasmine Lucilla Elizabeth Jennifer van den Bogaerde is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Her stage name comes from her nickname her parents gave her when she was a baby. At a tender age of 12, she won the UK music competition - Open Mic UK where she performed her own song called 'So Be Free' in front of 2000 people.
Birdy was born in Lymington, Hampshire, the UK on 15 May 1996. She learned to play the piano at the age of seven and started to write her own music when she was just eight. Her breakthrough in the industry was because of a cover version of Bon Iver's 'Skinny Love' that got her a platinum certification six times. On 7th November 2011, she released her debut album 'Birdy' and it became a number 1 in Australia, Netherlands, and Belgium. Her next studio album titled 'Fire Within' was released in September 2013 and the third album called 'Beautiful Lies' was released in March 2016.
She was nominated for the Best British Female Solo Artist at the 2014 Brits Awards. In 2016, two other songs were released featuring Birdy namely 'Beautiful Birds' and 'Find Me'. She took to extensive touring after the release of her third album and toured the United States and Asia.
