One of the most popular visual effects coordinators of the Tamil film industry, Caarthik Raju began his career in the late 1990s. Working in the visual effects department as a compositor, Caarthik later went on to become a lead compositor and worked on several movies such Chandramukhi (2005), Athadu (2005), Shaadi No. 1 (2005), Malamaal Weekly (2006), and Wanted (2009).

Caarthick turned director in 2017 with the movie Ulkuthu starring Attakathi Dinesh and Nandita Shweta. His 2019 release includes Ninnu Veedani Needanu Nene.
