Joseph Caleb Deschanel is a celebrated American film/television director and cinematographer. His prominent works as a cinematographer include The Black Stallion (1979), The Right Stuff (1983), The Natural (1984), It Could Happen to You (1994), Fly Away Home (1996), Message in a Bottle (1999), The Patriot (2000), The Hunted (2003), The Passion of the Christ (2004), National Treasure (2004), The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008), My Sister`s Keeper (2009), Killer Joe (2011), Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012), Jack Reacher (2012) and Rules Don`t Apply (2016). Deschanel made his directorial debut with The Escape Artist (1982). His other directorial ventures include Crusoe (1988), Twin Peaks (1990-1991), Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005-2006), Conviction (2006) and Bones (2005- ). In his entire career he has had five Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography. He is working with Denise Di Novi on her movie, Unforgettable (2017).
