Best-remembered for essaying the titular role in the 1991 television epic-drama Chanakya, actor-filmmaker Chandrapraksh Dwivedi began his career on small screen with Chanakya, for which he was also the director and screenplay writer. He, then, went on to work on 1996 television epic-drama Mrityunjay. His major breakthrough on the big screen with the 2003 film adaptation of Amrita Pritam`s Pinjar, which also earned him the Screen Videocon Best Director Award.

He has also directed Upanishad Ganga (2011), and Zed Plus (2014). His other projects include Sunny Deol starrer Mohalla Assi (2018), a film adaptation of Dr. Kashi Nath Singh`s novel.
