Chris Weitz is an American film producer, screenwriter, director and occasional actor. In a film career spanning around two decades, he has penned the screenplay for box office hits like Antz (1998), Nutty Professor II: The Klumpz (2000), About a Boy (2002) and Cinderella (2015). For his work in About a Boy (2002), Weitz was nominated for a Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2003. Besides these, Weitz has also produced several films, notable among which are In Good Company (2004), the romantic comedy-drama Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (2008), the drama film A Single Man (2009) and Columbus (2017). As a filmmaker, Weitz is perhaps best known for directing About a Boy (2002) and the 2009 romantic fantasy film The Twilight Saga: New Moon. The filmmaker's 2012 drama film A Better Life has also received near-universal critical acclaim, earning its lead actor Demian Bichir an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor that year. Other significant film credits as a screenwriter include The Golden Compass (2007), the 2016 space opera Rogue One and the 2017 romance-disaster film The Mountain Between Us.
