An alumnus of National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, film cinematographer Christo Bakalov made his debut in 1987 with the film adaptation of novel Cat's Tail. Since his debut, he has shot 33 films, including Ekztius (1989), Silence (1990) and The Devil's Tail (2001). He also has several shorts films to his credits, among them are The Last Shot (2005), Medea (2005), Just Your Average Arab (2006) and Love and Class in Connecticut (2007) and Death Whish (2010).

Some of the notable films are Americanizing Shelley (2007), Rang Rasiya (2008), Tere Mere Phere (2011), House of Dust (2013) and Purani Jeans (2014). His other credits include 5 Weddings (2018).
