Screenwriter, filmmaker and producer Dale Launer is best known for his association with films in the comedy genre. Some of his best-received works include the black comedy Ruthless People (1986), the comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988) and the Joe Pesci starrer My Cousin Vinny (1992). Besides these, Launer has also directed the romantic comedy Love Potion No. 9 (1992) and the 2005 film Tom`s Nu Heaven.

In 2019, one of Launer`s most popular works - Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988) - received a remake titled The Hustle, which featured Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson in the lead roles.
