Dean Devlin is an American producer, screenwriter, actor and filmmaker. He started out in the showbiz as an actor, appearing in minor roles in several films and television shows in the 1980s. My Bodyguard (1980), The Wild Life (1984) and Real Genius (1985) were some of Devlin`s notable acting credits during this period. Subsequently, he ventured into screenwriting and production, serving both as a writer and producer on blockbusters like Stargate (1994), Independence Day (1996) and Godzilla (1998). His work in Independence Day earned Devlin the Saturn Award nomination for Best Writer in 1997. The Mel Gibson starrer The Patriot (2000), the horror comedy Eight Legged Freaks (2002), the crime thriller Cellular (2004) and the war drama Flyboys (2006) are some of Devlin;s other significant film credits as a producer. In 2017, he made his directorial debut with the disaster film Geostorm, which he also wrote and produced. His other significant release includes Bad Samaritan (2018).
