Dean Semler is an Australian cinematographer and a member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) and Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS). He began his career as a camera operator and began making documentaries and educational films for Film Australia. For his work in Kevin Costner`s American feature film Dances With Wolves (1990), he won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography.

His notable film credits include Mad Max 2 (1981), The Three Musketeers (1993), XXX (2002), Bruce Almighty (2003), Apocalypto (2006), 2012 (2009), and Maleficient (2015).
