Deepak Adhikari, also popularly known as Dev, is among the highest paid Bengali actors. He was born on 25th December, 1982 to Gurupada and Mousumi Adhikari. Even though he was born in Medinipur district of West Bengal, he spent his early life in Mumbai. He was brought up in Mumbai and attended Purushottam High School in Bandra and later on went to pursue a diploma in Computer Engineering from Bharti Vidyapeeth University, Pune. As he was keen on entering the film industry, he took up an acting course at the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Academy and was as an observer on the set of Abbas-Mustan`s Taarzan: The Wonder Car.
Dev kick-started his film career with the movie Agnisapth (2006). Though the movie did not really do well at the box office, it launched a new superstar in the making and soon enough, Dev was cast as Rahul in the 2007 super-hit movie I Love You. He went to work in other films such as Chirodini Tumi Je Amar (2008), Premer Kahini (2008) and Challenge (2009) and won many accolades along the way. He will next be seen in the movie Kelor Kirti, which is set to release in July, 2016.
