Known for his long-standing association with Bollywood stalwart Amitabh Bachchan as his personal makeup artist, Deepak Sawant has been a part of the film industry for close to five decades. His first association with a movie came with the 1972 movie Raaste Kaa Patthar, following which he was a part of Zameer, Kabhie Kabhie, The Great Gambler, Hum, Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..., Veer-Zaara, Black, and Shamitabh among many others.

Meanwhile, he also produced a Bhojpuri movie titled Akka in 1994, which featured Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan in special appearances. As a producer, he went on to produce Ganga, Gangotri, Ganga Devi, and The Great Leader, all of which featured Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles.
