An American film and TV actor, Dennis Dexter Haysbert rose to fame with his appearance in the TV commercial for Allstate Insurance. Having started his professional acting career with the TV series Lou Grant in 1978, he made his debut on the silver screen with Scoring in 1979. After his maiden feature film, Haysbert took a break from the film industry for about 10 years and focused on working in the TV industry. He worked in series` like Quincy M.E. (1980), Code Red (1981-82), Gimme a Break! (1984), The Fall Guy (1986), Easy Street (1987) before eventually making a comeback to the silver screen with Major League (1989). In his illustrious career spanning more than 35 years, Haysbert has appeared in more than 50 films and 50 TV series and along the way won many awards including Satellite Award for Best Supporting Action in a Motion Picture for his role in Far From Heaven (2002) and Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor on Television for his role in Now and Again (1999-2000) and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries or Television Film for his role in 24 (2001-06). His 2017 release includes The Dark Tower, an American science fiction wester action horror film directed by Nikolaj Arcel. His 2019 release includes Playing with Fire.
