Dhiruben Patel is a Gujarati novelist who was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for Gujarati language for her novel Agantuk in 2011. She wrote the 2009 family drama Harun-Arun. Having written a number of novels, few of her novels have been adapted into movies: Bhavni Bhavai directed by Ketan Mehta in 1980, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, and Smita Patil, and the 2016 Gujarati movie Mission Mummy is based on one of her works.
