Dirk Bogarde (Derek Jules Gaspard Ulric Niven van den Bogaerde) was an English actor and writer. He started his career as a stage actor in 1939 and later entered into film industry. His first film appearance was in 1947 with Dancing with Crime movie. He had acted in more than 70 films. His most notable films include Accident, The Servant, Darling and Death in Venice. He won Best Actor award in BAFTA for The Servant in 1963, and for Darling in 1965. In 1991 he received London Film Critics Circle Lifetime Award. He also wrote novels like A Gentle Occupation.
