With more than 240 films and several television programs in his long career, Douglas Fowley was an American movie and TV actor. He is well known for his role as Roscoe Dexter, a frustrated movie director in the famous musical comedy film, Singin' in the Rain (1952). Fowley made his acting debut in the 1930's by appearing in a couple of uncredited roles. His first credited role came in the 1934 movie, I Hate Women. Since then Fowley has worked in movies like Big Brown Eyes (1936), Fifteen Maiden Lane (1936), Charlie Chan on Broadway (1937), Boy Friend (1939), It Could Happen to You (1939), Charlie Chan at Treasure Island (1939), Mr. Wise Guy (1942), Mississippi Gambler (1942), Mighty Joe Young (1949), Red River Shore (1953) and The Naked Jungle (1954). Fowley also made appearances in TV shows like Kolchak: The Night Stalker (1974-1975), The Rockford Files (1974-1980), Starsky and Hutch (1975-1979) and Detective School (1979). He passed away on May 21, 1998.
