She is best remembered for her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series. Early LifeThe beautiful British actress Emma Watson was born on April 15, 1990, in Paris, France, where she lived till she was five years old. Her parents, Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, both lawyers by profession, got separated while Emma was still a child. She moved to Oxfordshire in England, along with her mother and brother, and occasionally spent few days with her father in London. Emma completed her schooling from Dragon School in Oxford. During her school days, right from the age of six, she desired to become an actress and hence took lessons in singing, acting, and dancing, at the part-time theater school, Stagecoach Theatre Arts. By the time Watson turned ten years old, she had already performed in various school plays, including The Happy Prince and Stagecoach productions, but she had never acted professionally.
The major turning point in her life came at a very young age when the casting agents of the first movie of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher`s Stone, found Emma through her Oxford theater teacher in 1999. Despite being a part of the Harry Potter series since a young age, Emma ensured that she paid equal attention to her education. After being signed in the Harry Potter franchise, she moved to Headington School and ensured regular tutoring of up to five hours every day. She successfully cleared the GCSE exams in 2006.
In the fall of 2009, she enrolled at the Brown University in Rhode Island, USA. She switched to the Worcester College at Oxford University on an exchange year, but, went back to Brown to complete her English degree in 2014. She managed to successfully complete her graduation even while she was actively involved in movies and the fashion world.
Personal LifeWatson was dating rugby player Tom Ducker for a year in 2006. However, the relationship was short-lived, and, soon, she started dating Francis Boulle, whom she met at the 2008 Cartier Pool Party. Lasting only a few months, Watson split with Boulle and began dating Jay Barrymore. Although the two moved in together, the relationship did not last after Watson began with school since the two couldn`t keep up with distance. In 2010, she met George Craig at the Burberry shoot and immediately hit it off with him. Due to the distance, their relationship also faded. Watson was spotted at Coachella with Will Adamowicz in 2013. The two first met while Watson was completing her semester abroad and dated for two years. After coming out of a serious relationship, Watson dated the Oxford Rugby star Matthew Janney in 2014. Movie CareerThe release of
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer`s Stone in 2001 marked Emma Watson`s debut on the big screen. Before being selected for the role of the intelligent and brave witch, Hermione Granger in the movie adaptation of
J. K. Rowling`s best-selling novel, she had to go through a series of eight auditions. The movie turned out to be an instant success, breaking several records and even became the highest grosser of 2001. Importantly, Emma got noticed and received acclaim for her amazing performance in the movie. She went on to win the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress.
She continued to portray the role of Hermione in the subsequent installment of the Harry Potter series,
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in 2002, for which Emma was awarded the Otto Award by Bravo, a German magazine. The next one in the series,
