G.M. Kumar is an Indian screenwriter, actor, and director who is best known for his work in Tamil films. In a career spanning over three decades, he has served as a screenwriter on several popular movies, notable among which are Kanni Raasi (1985), the Kamal Haasan starrer Kaakki Sattai (1985) and the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Aakhree Raasta (1986). Significant directorial credits include Aruvadai Naal (1986), Pickpocket (1989) and Uruvam (1991). Besides these, Kumar has also appeared in supporting roles in numerous films, significant among which are Thotti Jaya (2005), Veyyil (2006), Avan Ivan (2011), Vellore Maavattam (2011) and Maya (2015). His 2017 release includes action drama Enbathettu. Directed by M. Mathan, the movie along with him also stars Upasana Rai, V. and Jayaprakash in the lead.
