In a career spanning over 25 years, Ganesh Acharya has choreographed the dance sequences in around 200 films, besides directing and acting in a few. The son of yesteryear dancer and choreographer Krishna Gopi, Ganesh started his own dance group at the age of 12 and was just 19 when he debuted as a choreographer with Anaam (1992). In the years the followed, he went on to establish himself as a name to be reckoned with in Bollywood through his work in hit films like Coolie No. 1 (1995), Judwaa (1997), Deewana Mastana (1997), Ishq (1997) and Baadshah (1999).

The choreographer continued to enthrall the audience through his dance numbers in the second decade of his career as well, and eventually made his directorial debut in 2007 with the drama film Swami, which starred Manoj Bajpai and Juhi Chawla in the lead roles. The movie was well-received by the critics and the audience alike. As a choreographer, some of Ganesh`s notable film credits from the 2000s included Munna Bhai MBBS (2003), Phir Hera Pheri (2006), Golmaal (2006), Omkara (2006), Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006) and Rang De Basanti (2006). Of these, the iconic song `Beedi Jalaile` from Omkara won him the first Filmfare Award of his career. Besides this, he also made his mark in the industry as an actor through films like Company (2002), the Tamil movie Vayasu Pasanga (2004) and Raavan (2010).

In 2014, Ganesh won the first National Film Award of his career courtesy of his work in the song `Maston Ka Jhund` from the acclaimed biographical sports drama Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013). Four years later, he bagged the second National Award of his career, thanks to the comedy-drama Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017). The romantic drama Ram Leela (2013), the satirical comedy-drama PK (2014), the romantic comedy Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017) and the biographical drama Sanju (2018) and Ishqeria (2018) are among Ganesh`s notable film credits in recent times.
