After appearing in Ram Gopal Varma`s Go in 2007, Gautam Gupta went on to make his foray into the television industry with Colors TV`s Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi in 2014, playing the role of Sharman Parekh. Born to Sushil Gupta, who owns a post-production company, acting was always Gautam`s calling, which he only realised after he enrolled himself at an acting class.

After playing a supporting role in Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi, he went on to bad the lead role in in Star Plus` daily soap Kuch Toh Hai Tere Mere Darmiyaan, playing the role of Madhavan Venkat or Maddy. In 2017, the actor turned producer with the short film Carbon: A Story of Tomorrow, which featured Prachi Desai, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Jackky Bhagnani in lead roles. The following year, in 2018, he produced the Marathi drama Youngraad, marking his feature film debut as a producer.
