One of the final five candidates at the Miss Femina India beauty pageant in 1999, Gayatri Joshi made her debut with Ashutosh Gowarikar`s Swades in 2004. Swades remains the only project of her career. Before starring in the movie, Gayatri was seen in several brand commercials and also in the music video of Jagjit Singh`s song Kaghaz Ki Kashti. The actress went on to bag several awards for her performance in Swades. Including the Zee Cine Awards Best Female Debut.

In 2005, Gayatri married Vikas Oberoi, owner of Oberoi Realty, and has two kids. The actress is now settled in the United States and has two kids.
