A former member of the band called Portishead, Geoffrey Paul Barrow is an English music producer, composer and a DJ who is best known for his composition in the multiple award-winning film Ex Machina (2015). Born and raised in Walton, Somerset, before making it big in the film industry, was involved with various local rock bands where he played drums and also worked as a DJ.
His first professional job was as a tape operator at the Coach House Studios in 1989. While working there, he simultaneously worked on his own tape ideas and a few years later he formed the Portishead project. In 2001, he worked the Australian record label, Invada Records and later in 2003 he set-up Invada UK where he re-mixed songs for The Pharcyde and Gravediggaz.
After his successful stint as an independent artist, he had a memorable debut as a composer in the film industry. His maiden film was Ex Machina (2015) and his other notable film includes Men Against Fire (2016), Free Fire Ben Wheatley (2017) and Annihilation (2018), an adventure drama fantasy directed by Alex Garland.
