Son of a German mother and Italian father, Giovanni Morassutti is an actor, director, and cultural entrepreneur born in Padua. As a teenager itself, Morassutti found his passion for acting and began taking acting workshops under the Hollywood actress Susan Strasberg. He moved to New York at the age of 18 and proceeded to study the course while also working in theatre productions. He worked with directors like Ellen Stewart, Ted Mornel, Kathleen M. Wilce, and Gus Van Sant. In 2001 he met John Strasberg, Susan Strasbergs brother, and the two have since collaborated on several projects.

In 2004 Morassutti returned to Italy and graduated from the National Film School in Rome, after which his career really took off. He bagged roles in theatre, film and television. His film credits include Il Fuggiasco (2003), Last Days (2005) and Leoni (A Holy Venetian Family) (2015). Over the years he got into directing plays as well, including Solo in Casa (2012) and Madre sin Panuelo (2015). He is also the artistic director of Art Aia- Creatives/ In/ Residence which is a cultural centre and creative residency in Italy.
