Having started his career with the 2013 Kannada movie Whistle as an associate director, Guru Murthy went on to direct his first movie, the Kannada drama thriller Soundharya Nilaya, which starred Abhinaya Sree, Bullet Prakash, and Kamal in pivotal roles, in 2017.
