Habib Tanvir (Habib) a.k.a. Habib Ahmed Khan was an Indian actor, mainly known for his poetry. Habib started writing poetry at an early age using his pen name “Takhalluz” but soon he adopted the pen name “Tanvir”. Apart from acting and writing poetry, he was also associated with Hindi playwrights and theatrical direction. Habib was honored with the Government of India's prestigious awards including Padma Shri in 1983 and Padma Bhushan in 2002. In June 2009, Habib died at Bhopal.
