Hampton Lansden Fancher is an American actor, writer and director, perhaps best known for penning the screenplay for Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic Blade Runner (1982). He started his career as an actor, debuting with the movie Parrish in 1961. Fancher starred in lesser known movies like Rome Adventure (1962), The Other Side of the Mountain (1975) and Survival (1976). But at the same time he also made appearances in popular TV shows like Rawhide (1959-1965), Gunsmoke (1955-1975) and The Fugitive (1963-1967). Fancher debuted as a screenwriter with Blade Runner. The movie was a critical and commercial hit. He next worked on The Mighty Quinn (1989). Fancher made his directorial debut with The Minus Man (1999). In 2017 Fancher worked on the screenplay of Blade Runner 2049 with Michael Green. The movie is a sequel to the 1982 movie and is directed by Denis Villeneuve.
