Veteran actor Haradhan Bandopadhyay is known for his long-time association with the Bengali film industry, making his debut in 1948 with Atanu Bandopadhyay's Devdut. Upon completing schooling from Kushtia Municipal School in East Bengal, current Bangladesh, Haradhan successfully appeared and cleared the IA exam. He then went on to work with Gun & Shell, following which he joined an insurance company and remained a part of the firm up until his retirement.

A celebrated theatre artist with over a 100 plays to his credit, Haradhan has worked with some of the most prominent directors of Bengali cinema such as Satyajit Ray and Mrinal Sen. The prolific actor has about the same number of movies to his credit and has been a part of the industry for over seven decades. He has featured in movies like Mahanagar, Sonar Kella, Goopy Bagha Phire Elo, Lal Darja, Jibon Niye Khela, Parineeta, Krantikaal, which won him a National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor, Gorosthaney Sabdhan, Barfi!, Shotru, and Khoka 420.

The actor passed away in 2013 to pneumonia at the age of 86.
