Harriet Walter, born as Dame Harriet Mary Walter, is an English stage and film
actress, known for her roles in movies such as The Governess (1998), Atonement
(2007), and Ben Palmer`s Man Up released in 2015. Walter began acting on stage
in 1974 and nine years later made her Broadway debut in 1983. Over the years
she has established herself as a prominent theater actress and has worked in
several Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) productions including Nicholas
Nickleby (1980), All`s Well That Ends Well (1981), Twelfth Night (1988), and Much
Ado about Nothing (2002). However, her prominent roles with the RSC came with
the plays Macbeth (1999) and Antony and Cleopatra (2006).
Walter has appeared in movies such The Leading Man (1996), Babel (2006), A
Royal Affair (2012), Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), and Denial (2016). Her
other releases include The Sense of an Ending (2017) and
Rocketman (2019).
