Hemant Chauhan is a celebrated folk singer from Gujarat, who sings songs of Kabir, Meera, Ravidas as well as several Gujarati saint-poets such as Dasi Jeevan, Akho Bhagat, and others. He has been active for over 40 years, singing over 5000 traditional songs. He has won several awards and accolades, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi and Gujarat Gaurav awards, yet he retains his humility and shyness. He's passionate about the folk form and about collecting texts of the saint-poets' songs. He performs widely in India and abroad.
