Himesh Reshammiya`s diverse repertoire as an artist includes film credits as a playback singer, composer, songwriter, screenwriter, producer and actor. He debuted as a music director in Bollywood with the romantic comedy
Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998) and has since scored the music for over a hundred feature films. Notable among these are
Tere Naam (2004), the romantic thriller Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005), the coming-of-age sports drama
Iqbal (2005), Aksar (2006),
Phir Hera Pheri (2006),
Special 26 (2013) and the romantic drama Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015).
While he has been nominated multiple times for the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director, Himesh won his maiden Filmfare Award in the Best Playback Singer category for the song Aashiq Banaya Aapne from the eponymous 2005 film. Following the immense success of his 2006 studio album
Aap Kaa Surroor, the musician made his acting debut in 2007 with the romantic thriller film of the same name. Despite the mixed to negative reviews, Aap Kaa Surroor (2007) turned out to be an enormous box office hit and earned him a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Male Debut that year.
Besides acting and music, Himesh has also ventured into film production and screenwriting, through movies like Damadamm (2011),
Khiladi 786 (2012) and The Expose (2014). Significant film credits as a composer in recent times include Teraa Surroor (2016), Genius (2018) and
Total Dhamaal (2018). His 2020 project includes
Happy Hardy and Heer. Along with Tanishk Bagchi, he composed music for
Chehre (2021) and
Sooryavanshi (2021).
