Irfan Kamal has played multiple roles in the film industry including those of actor, director, writer and even lyricist. He started out as an actor, making his debut in the 1993 film Chahoonga Main Tujhe. After a few years of acting, he gained recognition with his 2009 directorial debut Thanks, Maa, which was also his first movie as a writer. The film brought the issue of child abandonment to attention and was screened at several major film festivals like the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival. In 2013, he became widely known for his work on the screenplay for Krrish 3. He also worked as a lyricist for popular movies like Dabangg 2 (2012), Dolly Ki Doli (2015) and Singh Is Bliing (2015). His 2019 release as a director and writer includes Satellite Shankar.
