Jacob Samuel Chase was born on 1 July 1986 in Panorama City, California. He's an American filmmaker and actor, best known for writing and directing the supernatural horror thriller Come Play (2020), based on his own short film Larry, starring Gillian Jacobs and Azhy Robertson. He previously directed The Four-Faced Liar (2010) and has also worked on television, directing episodes of The Girl in the Woods (2021).

His latest project is Insidious: Out of the Further (2026), which he wrote and directed as the sixth installment in the Insidious franchise and a sequel to Insidious: The Red Door (2023). He received sole screenplay credit on the film, sharing story credit with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, and the film stars Lin Shaye, Amelia Eve, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Sam Spruell.
