Early Life
Born in England and raised in New York, Janet McTeer is an actress, writer and producer. She developed an interest in acting after watching the play, She Stoops to Conquer. After successfully graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), she became a part of the Royal Exchange Theatre.

Career Highlights
McTeer made her film debut with Half Moon Street in 1986. She then starred in movies like Wuthering Heights (1992), Carrington (1995) and Tumbleweeds (1999), for which she receiver her first Academy Award nomination. Some of her other notable performances were in Songcatcher (2000), The Woman in Black (2012), Maleficent (Voice- 2014), Insurgent (2015) and Allegiant (2016). She will star in the upcoming romantic-drama, Me Before You, which is slotted for a June, 2016 release.
