Jaspreet Kaur is one of the youngest film producers in eastern India to start her own film and television production house, KR Movies and Entertainment. Initially a computer science engineer, she quit her job in a multinational company to study film making. After working as a VFX producer for several companies, including Hollywood, Bollywood and Indian regional films, she decided to start her own production house to tell the stories she cared about. Her first film was C/O Sir (2013), a story about a blind school teacher who struggles to prevent the school from being sold. The movie became the first Bengali film to be theatrically released in Singapore. Other notable works include Bawal (2015) and Cholai (2016), the latter which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. While handling the overall working of the company, she still remains closely involved in the VFX production, costume design, and editing of her projects. Her 2019 works include Bala, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, wherein she has taken up the role of co-producer.
