Jennifer Jason Leigh is an American actress whose career spans over four decades and 60 films. She made her acting debut with an uncredited role in the 1976 film The Execution, while the 1981 slasher film Eyes of a Stranger marked Leigh's debut in a credited role. The actress got her first major break with her performances in the drama film The Last Exit to Brooklyn (1989) and the neo-noir black comedy crime film Miami Blues (1990), which earned her a New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actress. Subsequently, she turned in several critically acclaimed performances in films like The Hudsucker Proxy (1994), Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle (1994), Dolores Claiborne (1995) and Georgia (1995), of which Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle earned Leigh a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress and a Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Best Actress. In 2001, Leigh co-wrote and co-directed the comedy-drama film The Anniversary Party with Alan Cumming, which was nominated for a Golden Camera Award at the Cannes Film Festival that year.

Besides acting, writing and direction, Leigh has also ventured into production. Georgia (1995), Skipped Parts (2001) and Greenberg (2010) are some of her notable film credits a producer, with the last of the three also featuring Leigh as a co-writer. The Tom Hanks starrer Road to Perdition (2002), the Christian Bale starrer The Machinist (2004), the comedy Margot at the Wedding (2007), the romantic comedy-drama The Spectacular Now (2013) and the Western mystery film The Hateful Eight (2015) are some of the actress' notable roles in the recent past. Her performance in The Hateful Eight earned Leigh universal critical acclaim, and earned her Best Supporting Actress nominations at the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes and the BAFTA Awards in 2015. Other significant acting credits include Short Cuts (1993), eXistenZ (1999), Synecdoche, New York (2008) and White Boy Rick (2018).
