Jim Carter is a British film and television actor best known for his role in the historical drama series Downton Abbey. He was nominated four times for the Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a series. His major acting credit includes Top Secret (1984), The Madness of King George (1994), Shakespeare in Love (1998), The Little Vampire (2000), The Golden Compass (2007), Creation (2009) and The Good Liar (2019). In 2019, Carter reprised his role of Charles Carson in the feature film Downton Abbey.
