Jim Sturgess is an English actor and singer-songwriter who is best known for his roles in films like 21 (2008), The Way Back (2010) and Cloud Atlas (2012). He made his acting debut at the age of 13 in the 1994 film The Browning Version, and got his first big break courtesy of his performance in the 2007 musical romantic drama film Across the Universe. For his performance in 21 and Across the Universe, he was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Breakout Actor in 2009. Sturgess is also a bona fide musician, and has written and performed music for some of his films. Notable television credits include The Scarlet Pimpernel, Close to the Enemy and Hard Sun. Other significant movie credits include The Other Boleyn Girl (2008), The Best Offer (2013), Kidnapping Freddy Heineken (2014) and the 2017 disaster film Geostorm.
