Best remembered for his roles as Major William Rawls in the HBO series The Wire and Colonel Edward Galson in Oz and Rodrigo Borgia in Borgia, John Doman is a hugely popular personality in the American TV industry. Having started his acting career in 1991, he worked mostly in TV series for a few years, until he made his debut on the silver screen in 1995 with the Bruce Will starrer Die Hard: With a Vengeance. Over the years, the veteran actor has appeared in more than 30 films and 50 TV series'.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Doman while pursuing his graduation at the Northeast Catholic High School he was part of the school's football team and later he became the school's member of Hall of Fame. After completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature, he started playing with Quakers Football team from 1963 - 65. Before venturing into cinema, Doman served with the United States Marine Corps; he started as an Officer Candidate and later in 1967, he was commissioned as the Second Lieutenant of the 3rd Marine Division that served in the Vietnam War.

After he quit his job as a Marine, he spent the next 20 years working in the advertising business, he worked with many companies like SSC & B Advertising and Norman Craig & Kummel. After being a successful advertiser, Doman took up acting and he made his debut on the TV screen with Law & Order. He subsequently starred in many TV series' but he got his big break when he became part of Oz in 2001. His brilliant performance in the series made him a popular household name.

Whilst Doman was already doing a lot of work in the TV industry, he ventured into acting in films with Die Hard: With a Vengeance where he played a small role as a Foreman. Some of his other popular films include Fool's Paradise (1997), Puppet (1999), Gracie (2007), The Company Men (2010), Ordinary World (2016) and You Were Never Really Here (2018), an American drama mystery thriller directed by Lynne Ramsay.
