Born in California, U.S. John R. Leonetti is an American movie director, and cinematographer, who made his directorial debut with the action film Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. He further directed The Butterfly Effect 2 (2006),
Annabelle (2014), and Wolves at the Door (2016). The younger brother of the famous cinematographer Matthew F. Leonetti, John has handled the camera for movies like The Mask (1994), The Scorpion King (2002), Dead Silence (2007), Insidious (2011),
The Conjuring (2013), and
Insidious: Chapter 2. His 2017 directorial venture includes the thriller Wish Upon. Directed by John R. Leonetti, the movie stars Ki Hong Lee, Joey King, Sherilyn Fenn, Ryan Phillippe, Shannon Purser and Elisabeth Rohm in important roles.
