The winner of the prestigious Golden Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival, Jose Padilha is a renowned film and TV director, producer and screenwriter. He is best remembered for directed the critically acclaimed Brazilian film series, Elite Squad and Elite Squad: The Enemy Within and producing the immensely popular Netflix original detective series Narcos.

Born in the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Padilha before making it big in the film industry studied business, politics, and economics in Rio, before eventually going to the prestigious Oxford University where he studied literature and international politics. Padilha made his directorial debut with the Brazilian documentary film Bus 174 (2002), before eventually gaining wide fame and recognition with his second directorial venture Elite Squad (2007). His other notable film credits as a director include RoboCop (2014), and 7 Days In Entebbe (2018), an English crime drama thriller featuring Rosamund Pike, Daniel Bruhl, Denis Menochet, Mark Ivanir and Eddie Marsan in important roles.
