About
Jyoti Dogra is a Mumbai-based theatre artist who writes, directs, produces, and performs in theatre. In recent years, her theatrical focus has shifted towards creating devised pieces, devoid of narrative or text dependency, utilizing the self as a starting point. Her work seeks a performance language through metaphors crafted with body, voice, and text. Drawing inspiration from urban Indian ethos, rooted in personal and collective histories, her work explores the personal to unveil the universal. Centered on original theatre for present times, her practice experiments with form and dramaturgy.
Supported by entities such as India Foundation for the Arts, Pro Helvetia - Swiss Arts Council, Goethe Institut, Saison Foundation - Japan, Arts Council England, Base Collective - Vienna, Flinn Works - Berlin, Prakriti Foundation, and Serendipity Arts, her performances span major and small cities in India, showcased in both alternative and formal venues. Additionally, her work has been exhibited globally in Tokyo, New York, London, Zurich, Vienna, Berlin, Warsaw, Denmark, Washington DC, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Dhaka.
